Wedding Reception Checklist

While a reception is just one part of the wedding, it has many details to it that you will not want to forget. Just when you think that you have everything ready, you might easily forget one or two things that will get lost in the mix. With a checklist, you can make sure that no detail goes unnoticed at your wedding reception. About us.

The first thing to lock down for a wedding reception is the venue, of course. Where will you be having your reception? Even when you have a contract signed with your venue, remember to touch base with them the week of the wedding.

Next on the agenda are the tables and chairs. Are they provided by the venue? Will the venue have the chairs and tables set up or will you have to take care of setting up yourself? Remember that when it comes to planning your wedding, you can ask all of the questions that are on your mind. Never assume anything.

The other big important part of a reception is the food. Who is the caterer? Remember to go over the services that will be provided to you. Some caterers include dish and linen rental and you might be able to rent various other wedding supplies as well. Really talk with your caterer so they can help you create the perfect menu for your wedding reception.

If your caterer will not be providing the napkins, dishes, glassware, and silverware, then you will need to figure out where those supplies will come from. Don’t forget about the cake. You will want a cake stand to display your wedding cake, as well as a cake server to help cut and serve the cake. You will also want to have a menu provided for your guests.

At Just Right Catering, we can provide you with a delicious wedding reception meal as well as many essential supplies like stainless steel silverware, white tablecloths, chafing dishes, white china, centerpieces, tables, and more.

Even if you are not allowed to really make changes to the venue, you will still want to think about decorations. From chair signs to centerpieces, think about the decorations that you want to have at your wedding. You might choose to have a florist decorate the venue with floral arrangements.

Another key part a wedding reception is the entertainment, which usually comes in the form of a DJ or a live band. Like any other vendor, you will want to communicate your vision to the DJ to make sure that you are on the same page. Depending on your venue, you may or may not want to get a dance floor installed for the reception. You might even want to add certain effects like fog and disco lights.

If you are having an outdoor reception, then there will be a bit more to think about. While you may not have to worry about lighting, you will probably want to have tents to shade you from the sun. If you don’t want to use tents, you might still want to have them in case of rain.

One important part of a wedding that can easily get overlooked is gratuities for the vendors, particularly the servers. If you plan on giving out gratuities, then you might want to delegate that task to a trusted friend or family member, as your wedding will be incredibly busy.

Last of all, don’t forget to plan the mode of transportation for you as well as your guests if your venue is in a remote location. And you might also want to send your guests home with favors. More about preparations here.
